From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit time. It is also referred to as temporal frequency. The period is the duration of one cycle in a repeating event, so the period is the reciprocal of the frequency. Loosely speaking, 1 year is the period of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, and the Earth's rotation on its axis has a frequency of 1 rotation per day. The SI unit of frequency is the hertz (Hz), defined as one cycle per second. From Wikipedia under the

BusinessWeek HTC Has Less Complaints Than iPhone 4 LANewsMonitor.com From Google News Search: "frequency" How can various sound frequencies be transmitted over one radio frequency? Q. I mean, say you tune your FM radio to 99.1 MHz, and there's music playing. Obviously, music (or any type of sound) contains a broad spectrum of frequencies (haha, get it? Fourier joke.), but the radio is tuned to a single frequency: 99.1 MHz. Could someone explain to me the distinction between the frequency of the radio signal and the frequencies of the sounds being transmitted over that frequency? Anything else you can explain about this topic is appreciated as well. Thanks. Asked by Lenny - Mon Jun 8 17:18:38 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The frequency you tune to is the base frequency. A radio transmission will have the spectrum of sound (0-20kHz) plus that tuned frequency, so if you tune to 99.1MHz, your radio actually looks for frequencies from 99,100,000 Hz up to 99,120,000 Hz. Then the receiver basically subtracts the 99.1 MHz and you're left with audible sound frequencies. Answered by mrbungle3825 - Mon Jun 8 17:42:16 2009 How do I block high frequency broadband signals from my modem? Q. My modem with my broadband internet emits a very high frequency which is very disturbing to my girlfriend who is sensitive to high frequencies since she suffered a brain injury several years ago. Dial up does not bother her, but the broadband does, it nearly drives her mad and she must leave the room. Will placing the modem in a lead lined film pouch block the frequency? Thank you, this is a real problem. Asked by Alvin York - Fri Feb 29 15:48:34 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is not much you can do to your modem. But you can have your girlfriend go to the hearing doctor, and ask for earplugs that filter high freq. noise. A co worker has the same problem. This is what she had to do. The other thing is you could turn off the modem. I don't think the lead pouch will work. But my co worker says that the ear plugs work good. But she said go to a hearing doctor. Good luck to her.
